Luckily the rain held off long
enough Saturday evening to get some racing in. After
winning the most recent points event the 81 team was
starting at the back and with an evil handling car (as
Glenn described it) it could have been a long night.
Only a few laps into the heat an over anxious Matt
Harris in the 87 Ford got into the back of the 81
Hanscom's Auto Body Dodge just as
Glenn was working his way around the 69 of Gillespie
going into turn 3. Glenn hand his hands full as he
went through turn 3 and 4 dirt
track style which caused the 81 and 87 to loose a lot
of ground on the field. Glenn fended off the hard
charging ford of Harris for the final
transfer spot and the 81 advanced to the dash.
During the Dash the loose condition got worse in a bad
way but Glenn was able to hold on and pick up a few
important points. Unable
to find what was wrong with the car, Glenn, Rodney and
Steve went to work hoping to tighten things up for the
feature and what ever
they did it helped but obviously still not right.
Things started off smooth during the feature and Glenn
patiently picked his spots and
moved up through the field narrowly avoiding a few
spins on the way.
By lap 20
the Robins Inn Charger was in 4th and a few laps later
a
hole opening up under the 3 car of Brad Mann and Glenn
was able to get to the inside coming out of turn 2 and
take the 3rd spot away
going down the back stretch.
This
would be as close to the front as the Big Black Dodge
would get on this night and was unable to run
the leaders down. However the 81 team took what we
assumed was a 6th place car and got another podium
finish with some patient and
very skillful driving along with some great spotting
by Steve and Rodney!!
